Better Well-Being for Parent & Baby

Perinatal depression and anxiety occurs in up to one in five new mothers.

You are not alone.

  • Pillar I: Awareness and Education

We work to raise awareness about perinatal depression and other perinatal issues and educate expectant and new parents.

  • Pillar II: Care

We aim to smooth the transition to parenthood and ensure that all members of new families are kept healthy and safe. Care can be provided virtually or physically.

  • Pillar III: Research

We partner with leading researchers to understand postpartum depression. Ultimately we want to find an effective therapeutic treatment.

Perinatal Mental Health Disorders

Mums, and dads, of every culture, age, and income level, can develop perinatal mental health disorders, which are mental health conditions that occur during pregnancy or after giving birth.

Disorders include depression, anxiety, post-traumatic stress disorder (“PTSD”), and psychosis, amongst others.

The PAM Foundation’s mission is to raise awareness and educate, to care for those suffering, and to work to find effective therapies.

Our story starts with Pranaiya and Arthur

Pranaiya Oulapathorn was a bright and caring soul with helpful hands and a kind heart.

Arthur Magoffin was born in March 2021, to Pranaiya and Hamish Magoffin, and was a healthy and bubbly baby, who brought joy to those around him.

Unfortunately, we lost Pranaiya and Arthur to postpartum depression. The PAM Foundation was established to continue Pranaiya’s legacy of positive societal impact while addressing the condition to which we lost her and Arthur.

University of Oxford Partnership

We are proud to announce a new collaboration with the University of Oxford to research the biology of postpartum depression.

In this video Professor Francis Szele of the University of Oxford explains that the creation of new neurons (neurogenesis) during pregnancy can go awry. The Oxford team is researching a possible link to postpartum depression.

Training and Support

With the support of our donors we bring together expertise from the UK and Thailand to create world class training for medical professionals so they know how to recognise and treat perinatal mental health issues.

We also run support groups for expectant and new parents.

Creating a Community

Our “Behind the Lens” photography exhibition brought together friends, family and members of the public to create awareness about perinatal mental health and the pressures faced by new families.

The exhibition had the goal of educating and stimulating public discussion on Perinatal Mental Health and Modern Social Parenting Pressures.
